About the Subject
- LOVIE SMITH. First African-American coach, (with Tony Dungy) to take a team to the Super Bowl. Head coach of the Chicago Bears since 2004. Career record of 66-52. Voted the NFLs Coach of the Year in 2005 by the AP & the Pro Football Writers. Fastest coach in Bears history to lead his team to a division title (2nd year). Smith spent last 23 years coaching in college & pro ranks, including stint as defensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams from 2001-03
